Mary and Paul are traveling during Spring Break

Mary and Paul are traveling to Cleveland, Ohio to visit Angela. We will spend a few days, visiting malls, shops, and stores. Angie had the most grubby looking microwave oven, so we bought her a new one. On Tuesday, Lou and Jean will visit. We brought them more than 100 canning jars and a couple of cow things for the girls (if you know what I mean). Allison was accepted into her program at school for the fall That means two years of work and internship. She also found a new apartment for the upcoming year. David received a small upgrade in his work with Target, and his boss has noticed his good work. Angela is taking a few days off while we visit, and she helped us get connected with Facebook. Mary is trying to relax for a few days druing the break. There are just a few weeks left in school, but already she is feeling the stress. Paul has lost 21 pounds and is staying with his diet (Nutrisystem). Holy Week is coming up fast, which means many hours and much work. But hey, it is what he signed on for, right?

First Day of Spring

The sun will soon be over the equator and the first day of spring. While we go through our days in the midst of piles of snow, warmth is on the way. We hope to see the 40's the next several days. Allison is due to return to Ferris State to continue the last months of school for this year. We enjoyed her visit. David is back to work, waiting to see if he got the promotion at Target. Haven't heard from Angela, but no news is good news. Mary has a weekend coming up and an opportunity to rest. Paul has lost 15 pounds from his Nutrasystem diet, well on his way to lose his goal, 55 pounds. Spike is back sleeping in the living room and is enjoying the warmth and sleeping on his favorite chairs.

More winter

Well, it looks like winter still wants to hang on a bit. It is still very cold, and lake-effect snow is still in the offing. We have enjoyed Allison's visit during spring break, even though we do not see as much as we would like. David is over his illness and is back to work, trying to get in as many hours as he can. Angela seems to be doing well, trying hard to stay in her budget. Mary was out late last night, watching the Kalkaska-Suttons Bay basketball district finals in Kalkaska. Suttons Bay won and will move on to play for the district championship. Paul is doing well on his Nutrasystem diet, having lost 15 pounds in less than three weeks. The cat is still beating up on the dog, but Spike is beginning to stand up more for himself.

Family run-down

Mary is back to work, after a welcomed snow day. They are testing at school this week, so her work load is taking a bit of a pleasurable break. Angela is working hard in Cleveland, Ohio. She is down quite well, and we are very proud of her. David is still looking for a full-time job, something that is complicated in a state that has 11% unemployment. Nonetheless, he is working at Target and getting some hours in. Unfortunately, he is a bit sick this week, worried about having diverticulitis, again. Allison is home from college, Ferris State. She was admitted into the program she applied for, so she will be starting that in the fall. For now, she is working at Family Videos, trying to stay on top of her Spanish class, and enjoying Spring break. Paul is working his usual hours. Other than the 4 hours he spent at clearing snow. things are moving along well at church. They are presently trying to move ahead in a strong way, in outreach to the community. The church needs to grow.

Sick of Winter

It is only appropriate that the first posting of this blog is to complain about the winter. The snow started on November 10th and has not gone away all winter long. At the present we are posting about upwards of 150 inches of snow the winter. Wen things looked like they were starting to improve and move toward spring, we got dumped on again with 18 inches in less then 12 hours. It took Paul 4 hours to clear the snow, that is 2 and a half hours more than usual. Now we are getting ice and more snow this week. HELP! Someone send some sun and warm weather up here fast, before we all go bonkers.
